Some of us have been suggesting and requesting this for a number of years now and it is finally here. Dr Steve Herrod was a supporter of this initiative during his time as CTO at VMware. One of the big community supporters was and is Mike Laverick.
From me I would like to say thank you to everyone involved for getting this up and running. I think it will be of great benefit to the community and ultimately VMware. Now IT Professionals can use the products at home to further and deepen their knowledge and experience. This will result in better designs and solutions for employers and customers. I certainly know it will help me.
What am I talking about? Think of the now defunct Microsoft Technet subscription programme. VMware have just launched their own version call EVALExperience. You will see references in the community to VMTN Subscription. The chosen name is a little markety for mine, however it gets you access to the following VMware products:
- VMware vCenter Server™ 5 Standalone for vSphere 5
- VMware vSphere® with Operations Management™ Enterprise Plus
- VMware vCloud Suite® Standard
- VMware vRealize™ Operations Insight™
- VMware vRealize Operations™ 6 Enterprise
- VMware vRealize Log Insight™
- VMware vRealize Operations for Horizon®
- VMware Horizon® Advanced Edition
- VMware Virtual SAN™
Access is via a VMware VMUG (VMware User Group) Advantage subscription. The cost is USD $200 for 12 months membership.
